10 hours ago:I enjoyed the presentation on the Cyrus Cylinder, but I was disappointed that there was no mention of the religion of Cyrus the Great. He was a follower of Iranian Prophet Zarathushtra (also known as Zoroaster by Greek philosophers who studied his philosophy and teachings) who is supposed to have founded the oldest known monotheistic religion believing in one God he called Ahuramazda (Wise Lord). Cyrus's successor Darius the Great who followed the policy of tolerance and respect for all races and religions has inscribed on the Iranian mountains that he rules by the grace of Ahuramazda (the name of Zarathushtra's God).
According to western scholars, who place his life at around 2000 B.C., and Greek and Roman historians who place his time at around 6000 B.C. (confirmed recently by Columbia and Berkeley university graduate, Mary Settegast, in her book "When Zarathushtra Spoke") tge Iranian prophet introduced several original concepts, such as a friendly and kind God, freedom of choice for human beings, and rational thinking, which were incorporated into later religions like Judaism and Christianity.
And then banished forever from the middle east by Mohammad, and those submitting to his concept of a deity. Angry, belligerent, intolerant, vengeful, misogynist, anti semitic (hateful toward Jews) and in favor of child sex.
