Salem Witch Trials
Salem. 1692. The events that took place in the town of Salem and nearby towns in Massachusetts will be forever regarded as one of our young nation's most tarnished moments in history. We won't forget. We can't forget.Since 1999, this site has served to chronicle the events that took place during one of the darkest moments in U.S. history. Witchcraft? Voodoo?
Free speech before the Consitution?
Political agendas?
Personal vendettas?
This website covers plenty. From a scholarly perspective detailing the events that led to what is widely regarded as a judicial travesty to the biographies of the afflicted, the accused and the victims
In Boston, not Salem Massachusetts, in 1692 an accusation was made. A Boston Mason's children were acting up.So being on the cutting edge of seventeenth century intellect ,John Goodwin knew in his heart of hearts, that the only logical explanation was witchcraft. Like minded people were soon to agree.Starting one of the most disturbing episodes in Colonial American history.
Cotton Mather a contemporary of John Goodwin, wrote a book on the subject
was a prolific publisher of pamphlets and a firm believer in witchcraft Witchcraft Witchcraft, in various historical, anthropological, religious and mythological contexts, is the alleged use of supernatural or magical powers. Witchcraft often refers to the alleged use of supernatural or magical powers in order to inflict harm or damage upon members of a community or their property...
Who would have thought that in this day and age, witchcraft.Or accusations of witchcraft would rear it's ugly head in American political discourse. But it has.For Sarah Palin to be in any way, shape, or form, connected to the killing of a Congresswoman, witchcraft most be the only logical reasons for such a statement.A few days in to this no real connection has been made. No proof (tangible evidence) that the killer Jared Loughner, knew of Sarah Palin, knew of a two year old map posted on her website or had ever head her speak a single word.Yet in the minds of many progressives, she along with others are in fact responsible for his actions resulting in the death of a Congresswoman. How could this be explained ...Witchcraft? or the super natural, is the only options left to explain this.
News: sarah palin blood on her hands
Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' blood is on Sarah Palin's hands after…
And, now that Palin may have the blood of more than some poor caribou on her hands, I wonder if she will continue putting people in cross hairs and calling on folks to RELOAD!…
The far leftist political beliefs, held by many the MSM today, and parts of the community they preach to,find themselves under great distress. After the last election, fear creeped in to their hearts. America no longer seemed to be heading down the path they have chosen. The modern secular progressives believe that they alone posses the answers in America's time need. They are certain of their superior wisdom. They claim "exclusivity" to the answers. Theirs is the only way to proceed, and they are as sure of their convictions as were the Puritan in their beliefs.Social and economic factors were beyond their very limited intellect. They did not like things that were unexplained. They could not get their little minds around questions, that were not answered in a hallowed book ( the bible in 1692 and the progressive writing of Karl Marx in the present time). Now at this time (1692) they needed a scape goat ( an Irish washerwoman, Mary Glover) to bring their world back to a place that it made sense to them. Logic, reason were not a requirement. The only requirement was an easy answer, that would set things right,to push the world back in to it's proper place. (if you think like they do) If however, you find yourself not thinking as the Puritans did, the line of action perused, leads to madness.Only by having a communal mindset ( a delusional one at that) did any of it, make the least little bit of sense.
The Internet has shrunk the world, making us as connected as if we still lived in a small Town atmosphere. Secretes are difficult, if not impossible to hide.In the age we live in, conservatives are said to be evil, conservative women, should be seen and not heard.
Social context
In accordance with Puritan beliefs, the majority of accused 'witches' were unmarried or recently widowed land-owning women; according to the law if no legal heir existed upon the owner's death, title to the land would revert to the previous owner, or (if no previous owner could be determined) to the colony. This made witch-hunting a possible method of acquiring a profitable piece of property.
or in this case to discredit the political aspirations of a woman who has an agenda that is heretical to the belief of the progressive cause.
is it progressive or regressive, that unfounded accusations are understood as real, and acted upon.
Why do I feel many on the vine, had they lived in Colonial America would find themselves chanting, burn the witch, burn the witch.
