Palestine and Unicorns : what do we "really" know about them ?

Palestine and Unicorns, we have heard of both of them, surely we have. But are they real ?

Has there ever been a "country" called Palestine ?

Has there ever been a "living Creature" called a Unicorn ?

Yasser Arafat is the father of the Palestinian people it is proudly said. He inspired the intifada, he's the man who launched a thousand suicide bombers

please, name the Palestinian leader before the well known "terrorist" and by the way, where was Arafat born ?

the worlds most famous "Palestinian" is "in fact" an Egyptian

Mohammed Abdel-Raouf Arafat As Qudwa al-Hussaeini was born on 24 August 1929 in Cairo**

When you are born in Cairo, Egypt well before the Recognition of the state of Israel, you are an Egyptian, aren't you ?

Well Unicorns are Mythical Creatures, and it's just silly to try to prove their historical existence

what about Palestine, is there a historical basics for a Country called Palestine.(other than Islam will obliterate all)

I know the slogan, yet it is all I could find, for it is elusive, and very ill-defined

free Palestine !!!

leaving out the part that "freeing it", will subjugate the human population.Condemning them to live under a harsh and unforgiving law, that's murderous and misogynistic to the core. ,sharia law ("Allah's" law) may not be changed by mortal man

How do you steal a country, that never was. Can I go to jail, if you say, I stole your precious little Unicorn ?

I don't doubt that you love your Unicorn....But I don't have it,really I don't

Who Owns Jerusalem - Legally ?

Palestine ?

what was the name of the currency ? Countries, have their own money, don't they ? Did Palestine ever play in a world cup game ? how many Olympic Gold, silver or bronze metals, have they won ?

what were it's previous borders ? What other nations recognized it ? What language did they speak ? and who's side did it take in world war One, or world war two ?

Name an Ambassador ? and the foreign country he was posted in. Religious leaders don't count, do they ?

grand mufti, let's hope not

If it's so important, why didn't the ""Ottoman Empire" Empire" make them one ?

if you are still under the impression Israel "stole" a country ,please provide a time frame for when this occurred,if you would be so kind ? Cause we all know, the United Nations recognized Israel's existence in 1947, the U.N. "stole" or "dispossessed" nothing or no one

History tells us,Israel was an independent nation, until the Roman Emperor Hadrian ( in a unprecedented display of European colonialism) conquered, and then renamed it, in 135 AD.

no other country has existed there as a nation, until modern Israel returned. why that is ? This, I can not tell you. But I will say, that it is, a fact.

1000–900 B.C.
Solomon succeeds King David, builds Jerusalem temple.
After Solomon's death, kingdom divided into Israel and Judah.

Reality is a evil Mistress, she is exquisitely cruel, to those who would distort her

By 1864, a clear-cut Jewish majority emerged in Jerusalem - more than half a century before the arrival of the British Empire and the League of Nations Mandate. During the years that the Jewish presence in Eretz Israel was restored, a huge Arab population influx transpired as Arab immigrants sought to take advantage of higher wages and economic opportunities that resulted from Jewish settlement in the land. President Roosevelt concluded in 1939 that "Arab immigration into Palestine since 1921 has vastly exceeded the total Jewish immigration during the whole period."

Before the Recognition of the state of Israel, a leading News paper was the The Palestine Post,We now have, The Jerusalem Post (formerly The Palestine Post)

Before the recognition of the state of Israel, the leading Orchestra was the "Palestine" Orchestra, it became, The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (formerly the Palestine The Orchestra)

Before the recognition of the state of Israel, we find The "Palestine Legion" of world war One fame, the Royal Fusiliers, who were of Jewish decent

Between the two Great wars, the Jewish question, was on many minds. America (before political correctness)Put forth:House resolution number 360 in the year 1922, and the Palestinian people, that it references, are Jewish. Part 1 Part 2

Before the recognition of the state of Israel, we find The Brigade of Palestine" of world war two fame of Jewish descent

One more question.Culturally, linguistically, religiously and ethnically, what sets a Palestinian Arab apart, from the Syrian Arab,Egyptian Arab, or the Jordanian Arab ? What makes them separate or distinct as a People ?

Ain't Palestinians just a "generic" term for people from that spot,in the middle east ? Jews, Christians and Muslims, all people ?

Hasn't Islamic supremacy, conquered enough in the middle east, with out conquering descriptive words.

please provide. Palestinian Islamic/Arab Artists, that I may view their work.

please provide.Palestinian Islamic/Arab Novelists,so that I can read their books

please provide.Palestinian Islamic/Arab Musicians, I would like to hear their songs

to qualify, in their biography, pre 1947. that they describe them self as a Palestinian

Why was Yasser Arafat an Egyptian, and Mahmoud Abbas is Jordanian. Shouldn't the leader of a people, be from the people he represents.

unless, they represent Arab Jordanians and Arab Egyptians, wishing the destruction of the little Jewish state, for religious reasons

Still searching for the elusive and ill-defined "Palestinian"

the Unicorn,on the other hand, has been found,. Its natural habitat , is laying flat on the walls of young girls bed rooms, punched into the sheet-metal of lunchboxes, acting in saturday morning cartoon shows, and later in life it's depictedin tastless and uncalled for"STRIPPER TATS"

The stolen land fallacy spewed by the bigoted liberal Helen Hunts is the biggest steaming pile of crap ever flung by the media or jewish haters of the world.

Wonder why the palestinians aren't mad at the turks and the 8oo year ottoman reign? I have 1 thing to say to these gullible people who believe this rhetorical middle eastern lie..................who built the temple mount if this is palestinian land? Drifters? Gypsy's, Aliens?

For that matter ask them the origins of Palestinians lineage and you'll either hear crickets or get a dear in the headlight look when you explain their origins.

Great historical timeline, the only thing left out was the muslim brotherhoods hatefilled hand in this modern day mess created via the pulpits and mosque by way of Hitler via the Grand Mufti.

You'd think libs would shy away from nazi ideology.............which is why they water down the true history and truth with lies disguised as humanism. I'd live in denial too if my agenda was nazi driven.

Got it right here, to many links ? you think

According to documentation from the Nuremberg and Eichmann trials, the Nazi Germany SS helped finance al-Husseini's efforts in the 1936-39 revolt in Palestine. Adolf Eichmann actually visited Palestine and met with al-Husseini at that time and subsequently maintained regular contact with him later in Berlin.

In 1940, al-Husseini requested the Axis powers to acknowledge the Arab right:

  • ... to settle the question of Jewish elements in Palestine and other Arab countries in accordance with the national and racial interests of the Arabs and along the lines similar to those used to solve the Jewish question in Germany and Italy.

While in Baghdad, Syria al-Husseini aided the pro-Nazi revolt of 1941. He then spent the rest of World War II as Hitler's special guest in Berlin, advocating the extermination of Jews in radio broadcasts back to the Middle East and recruiting Balkan Muslims for infamous SS "mountain divisions" that tried to wipe out Jewish communities throughout the region.

At the Nuremberg Trials, Eichmann's deputy Dieter Wisliceny (subsequently executed as a war criminal) testified:

  • The Mufti was one of the initiators of the systematic extermination of European Jewry and had been a collaborator and adviser of Eichmann and Himmler in the execution of this plan. ... He was one of Eichmann's best friends and had constantly incited him to accelerate the extermination measures. I heard him say, accompanied by Eichmann, he had visited incognito the gas chamber of Auschwitz.grand mufti,

Definately not, why sugarcoat history? That's why the bigoted lies are and have been allowed to persist and fester to this day.

Anyone truly wanting to research or investigate history or this propogandan lie would do well to actually research the truths behind the media and great middle eastern lie.

I especially love the picture of the Grand Mufti and Hitler sitting together that libs won't talk about, or his arrest warrant after the war that caused this middle eastern nazi to flee Germany

Arafat is said to allegedly be Muftis nephew, which probably makes Hitler his great uncle LOL, so maybe they should be looking to Europe for their homeland huh?

On a serious note though, if anyone with a brain performed a little research into the muslim brotherhood, their origins, beliefs, and history where they come from as well as their involvement in trouble in the middle east, one would see where the true problem lies.

Its a leftover remnant nazi cult disguised as a religious belief....plain and simple, and if you believe their crap, then you're right where they want you to be. Their whole agenda is propoganda driven rhetoric designed to suck in the gullible and uneducated via humanism,......pathetically its working and the evolution of common sense is left behind with the true facts as is history.

Whats scarey is the knuckle dragging lefties beating their chest with pride from the bandwagon then calling themselves progressives................what an oxymoron!

I should have bookmarked the site. It had pictures of Israel before and after, from the 1800s to now

and how it changed. see the little logo,in the picture Jerusalem challenge, one picture was something an Israeli would see every day and yet never recognise from the past.

before I chose a photo, I spent twenty minutes just looking the history,it was amazing

the early settlers in the 1830s were the builders of a dream, many were Egyptians Jews returning home.

The Arab "Palestine" is known to the modern world as "Jordan". When Arafat's ragtag group of hacks couldn't topple Hussein, they retreated to where they are now.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_September_in_Jordan

It's the Palestinians' job to reconcile with their Jordanian brothers, and head back there. We're tired of this being Israel's problem.

As Jew-hating journalist Helen Thomas recently said about Israelis, “Tell them to get the hell out of Palestine. Remember, these [Arab] people are occupied, and it’s their land.” The Jews, Thomas added, can go back where they come from – “Poland. Germany. . . . And America and everywhere else.” (Reflecting ignorance all too common among the White House press corps, Thomas is unaware that the majority of Israelis are children of the Middle East, descendants of the 850,000 Jews exiled by Northern African Arab dictatorships during the years Israel was being founded.)

The only “Palestine” that ever existed was always synonymous with the Jewish homeland that later was renamed “Israel” in 1948. Rent a copy of the 1960 movie “Exodus.” Listen dispassionately to the dialogue. Don’t take sides. Just listen for definitions. The British, fairly or unfairly, are depicted as the bad guys in the movie, trying to keep the Jews out of “Palestine.” Paul Newman is trying to get the Jews into “Palestine.” Everyone watching the movie perceives that “Palestine” is a name that refers synonymously with “Israel.” Thus, what we seem to have had here is a failure to communicate. It could not be simpler: For the past two thousand years, since the Romans renamed the land of Israel after they expelled and exiled the Jews, “Israel” always was synonymous with “Palestine,” and “Palestine” always was “Israel.”

There never ever was an Arab Palestine entity. Who, after all, ever was its leader? Try to name any leader who ever in history led a sovereign “Palestinian Arab” people of

“Arab Palestine.”

hey,this sounds familiar

What year was that entity founded?

What was the name of its capital city — any capital city?

Where is the drawing or photograph of its seat of government, or the place where its governmental leader lived?

What was the name of its currency?

Whose face, what slogan was on that currency?

When did it fall?

In which Olympic Games did it compete?

Which issue of Encyclopedia Britannica had an entry for its government?

great minds, most think alike.

Economics and Immigration - Under the British Mandate, which began after WWI, Jewish population increased due to immigration, especially in the 1930s. Arab population also increased at an exceptional rate. According to records, about 18,000 non-Jews entered Palestine between 1930 and 1939 when there were more or less reliable figures. In the same period, about 5,000 non-Jews left. This does not count illegal immigration of course, or immigration prior to 1930. Economic analyses show that by the 1930s the standard of living of Palestinian Arabs was approximately twice that of Arabs in surrounding countries, whereas in Ottoman Turkish times it was lower than in surrounding countries. Some of the farm population may have suffered economic hardship, characteristic of any industrializing and urbanizing society, but in the main, the standard of living improved, and it improved much faster than it did in surrounding countries. There is no doubt that this improvement in conditions was an attractant for immigrants as well as resulting in improved health and larger families. Additionally, British activity in building the port of Haifa during the 1920s and in operating it during WW II undoubtedly attracted at least some immigrants. However, there is no hard evidence that more than 100,000 or 200,000 (out of about 1.3 million in all of Palestine, and about 7-800,000 in the area that was to become Israel in 1948) Palestinians had immigrated to the land that was to become Israel. It is impossible to determine at present when this immigration took place. 100,000 Arabs immigrating in 1880 would have produced many more descendants by 1948 than 100,000 Arabs immigrating in 1930. However, since economic conditions did not improve until mandatory times, it is unlikely that the bulk of the immigration occurred under Turkish administration.

Joan Peters, in her book "From Time Immemorial," argues that most of the increase in Arab population was in fact due to illegal Arab immigration.

Her figures are not accepted by most demographers and historians, including Zionists.

Norman Finkelstein and others have criticized her thesis and shown evidence of poor scholarship. Finkelstein's analysis also shows that the largest increases of Palestinian Arab population occurred close to Jewish population centers in Palestine, which would argue against the Palestinian contention that the Zionists were dispossessing Arabs. We do not know if this increase was due to population shifts in Palestine or immigration from outside Palestine. It is certain that there was at least some illegal Palestinian-Arab immigration, as noted in British mandatory reports. Immigration from Transjordan was not illegal, and was not recorded as immigration at all until 1938. Beginning in the 1920s when they built Haifa port, and especially during and just prior to World War II, the British recruited Arab workers from the Houran in Syria and elsewhere. Arabs also came to Palestine before the war, attracted by higher wages. However, since much of the depletion of Palestinian population that had occurred in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries was due to migration to neighboring countries, many of these returning Arabs may have been families returning to Palestine

Pres Obama is not letting the flotilla crisis go to waste. He is using it as a springboard to change US policy regarding Hamas. In his words, uttered in a recent interview by Larry King, ‘Time to move forward and break out of the impasse’ and “the status quo is unsustainable.” Totally aside from whether it is really unsustainable, one need not wonder how he intends to break out of the impass. He will bring Hamas in from the cold.

It was recently disclosed by Aaron Klein that,

“The group behind the Gaza flotilla that engaged in deadly clashes with Israeli commandos today counts among its top supporters the friends and associates of President Barack Obama, namely the founders of the Weather Underground terrorist organization, William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, as well as Jodie Evans, the leader of the radical activist organization Code Pink.”

Barack Obama should be included in this cast of characters.

Jerome Corsi went so far as to report:

“A top adviser to President Obama, (John O Brennan), is the contact person within the White House for communications with the Free Gaza Movement over plans to challenge Israel’s blockade of the terrorist Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, according to a reputable source close to the Netanyahu government.

In April of this year, Obama’s administration lifted the ban on Ramadan. A week ago, the Guardian reported “Hamas leader says American envoys making contact, but not openly.” And this was before the crises.

http://www.analyst-network.com/article.php?art_id=3472

The anti blockade movement was promoted by a Turkish “charity” IHH which has been designated as a supporter of Hamas by both Israel and the US. One of the backers of this “charity” is Tariq Ramadan who had been banned from entering the US due to his financial support of Hamas. Yet Obama believes that “Turkey can have a positive voice in this whole process.”

Hmmmm, and yet no one nor the media went as far as to ask why Obamma dissed Netenyahu.

With a little research 1 probably could trace the money trail back to Obamas admin and how many of his radical supporters organizations are getting direct funding from the US. The whitehouse just announced they would like to give another 400 million in aid to the palestainians. This must be part of his no-strings attached diplomacy.

Maybe what should be done is a completion of the audit of the books and where a lot of the palestainian money actually is before committing more, at the very least demand Arafats wife give up her million dollar villa in France that is palestainian money. Somehow I bet some organization with connections to Chicago or his radical leftwing goons will be the disperser of funds.

The same man whose living room is where Barack Obama started his political career............Hmmmmm, no wonder Barry Obama dissed Netanyahu,.......he hates jews too!

Now when you break the law or a ban with a bunch of club weilding thugs its called a flotilla.

Why is it these kooky libs are always in bed with the bad guys and always try justifying it like an abused wife going back for more of the same punishment? Then come up with a goofy name "flotilla" to make it all sound peace loving when nothing could be further from the truth like their Palestinian land claim.

Imagine these people sitting around planning this, between bong hits 1 of them says "I know lets put a happy smiley face on this and make it look like its a humantarian mission and we'll call it a Flotilla", puhleeaaase, they should've called it a conglomoration of gullible idiots to dam ignorant to see they are pawns for evil people epic marine saga.

What it should be called is a sunkola and sitting on the bottom of the sea shore.

Excellant job my friend!

Now if the left would utilize their reading comprehsion skills, they'd see the "palestinian cause" is nothing more than a middle eastern nazi cult left over from WW2 that was never purged. No distortion is needed,.....these are the cold hard facts about who the major players, supporters, their origins and sponsors of this rhetoric driven agenda are.....to all the contributors.....excellant job.!

One must remember the libs and lefties are the same people so entranced with peace that they actually believe this is what Iran also wants,..............even after Iran saying it thousands of times over about wiping Israel off the face of the map, elimination of the jewish state, and start of a world war to bring back the child prophet, they still believe they can achieve it, if only Israel would relent....................I have 1 thing to say to Israel...........kudos for not believing this crap and keeping your guard up..........this is exactly what the islamofascists want and the beatnik hippy protestors are to ignorant to see it..............Well some, others like Ayers and the radical left would love to see Israel gone likewise. I've been on enough of the lefts screwball websites to see their agenda and what they want and believe. Most libs hate jews and blame them for THEIR and the worlds financial problems..

The worlds problems have nothing to do with the jewish state, these are just idiots, coddled by their potsmoking hippie protesting parents who taught them everything wrong in their life is someone elses fault. So being they inadvertantly link capitalism and jew money into the same category they can't help but to blame jews and all others for their shortcomings and failures in life. Its about what they are owed, and the leftwing media has fed so much into the jewish capitalism money theory they figure they are owed, if not they'll do everything in their power to see that jews and the jewish state fail because of their failures...........what a quaint bunch of humanists.

This seed and follow up comments are so chocked full of really great information and links.

It's an uphill battle it seems trying to convince people that:

1) There is no such thing (and never was) as "Palestine" or "Palestinians".

2) Hamas are terrorists, not poor down trodden abused Muslims

3) The Jewish Israelis -did- "go back where they came from" after the war. It was once known in ancient history as the "Kingdom of Israel"

4) After modern day Israel was formed four Muslim countries attacked them to try to destroy Israel and retake the land. They lost! Israel fought for it's right to exist and won!

5) The Muslims of Gaza were dancing for joy in the streets when they heard the news of 9/11 and were overjoyed at the loss of over 2000 civilian lives in the twin towers. -These- are the poor wittle suffering multitudes of Gaza....they want us dead!

Here's another disturbing link:

President Obama just gave hamas, a 400 million "Jizya" payment,to help them in their holy cause.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i08L09V0_sg Hamas in their own words. The second speaker sounds like a "failed little painter" with a funny little mustache

why are we funding this with American tax money? is it wise to do so ?

It has been reported from Sulaiman b. Buraid through his father that when the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) appointed anyone as leader of an army or detachment he would especially exhort him to fear Allah and to be good to the Muslims who were with him. He would say: Fight in the name of Allah and in the way of Allah. Fight against those who disbelieve in Allah. Make a holy war, do not embezzle the spoils; do not break your pledge; and do not mutilate (the dead) bodies; do not kill the children. When you meet your enemies who are polytheists, invite them to three courses of action. If they respond to any one of these, you also accept it and withold yourself from doing them any harm.

Invite them to (accept) Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them and desist from fighting against them. Then invite them to migrate from their lands to the land of Muhairs and inform them that, if they do so, they shall have all the privileges and obligations of the Muhajirs.

If they refuse to migrate, tell them that they will have the status of Bedouin Muilims and will be subjected to the Commands of Allah like other Muslims, but they will not get any share from the spoils of war or Fai' except when they actually fight with the Muslims (against the disbelievers).

If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the Jizya.

If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands.

If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah's help and fight them.

When you lay siege to a fort and the besieged appeal to you for protection in the name of Allah and His Prophet, do not accord to them the guarantee of Allah and His Prophet, but accord to them your own guarantee and the guarantee of your companions for it is a lesser sin that the security given by you or your companions be disregarded than that the security granted in the name of Allah and His Prophet be violated When you besiege a fort and the besieged want you to let them out in accordance with Allah's Command, do not let them come out in accordance with His Command, but do so at your (own) command, for you do not know whether or not you will be able to carry out Allah's behest with regard to them.

I've seen the video you linked in 8.1. I've even done a seed on it a week or so ago.

I don't know what Mr Obama thinks he's doing with sending 400 million dollars of our tax money to Hamas controlled Gaza.

First of all, where the heck does he think all this is coming from? There is no money tree in my back yard. I doubt there is one in the white house's rose garden either. Don't we have enough of our own financial issues going on without aiding those who actually want us dead?

As far as being wise to do so?

Heck no. Not like it stands. I'm not a hard hearted person. I don't like the idea that innocent children or non-violent Muslims in Gaza may be suffering. I don't mind medical aid etc going to them at all! But the fact remains is that the money will be spent on weapons, not humanitarian aid for the people. Another fact is that all the humanitarian aid sent by flotilla has been refused by Hamas. They won't let their people have it! They would starve their own people (if that is indeed the truth of what is happening to some of the people in Gaza) so to gain the sympathy of the world rather than allow the aid to reach them!

It seems to me that Mr Obama is burning the candle at both ends and playing a very deadly game. I simply don't trust his motives. How can I? He just broke his promise to Isreal and us in this excerpt of a speech he gave in 2008:

1. Not one settlement in the Land of Israel has a name that is of Arabic origin. Most of the settlement names originate in the Hebrew, Greek, Latin or Roman languages. In fact, till today, except to Ramlah, not one Arabic settlement has an original Arabic name. Till today, most of the settlements names are of Hebrew or Greek origin, the names distorted to senseless Arabic names. There is no meaning in Arabic to names such as Acco (Acre), Haifa, Jaffa, Nablus, Gaza, or Jenin and towns named Ramallah, El Halil and El-Kuds (Jerusalem) lack historical roots or Arabic philology. In 1696, the year Relandi toured the land, Ramallah, for instance, was called Bet’allah (From the Hebrew name Beit El) and Hebron was called Hebron (Hevron) and the Arabs called Mearat HaMachpelah El Chalil, their name for the Forefather Abraham.

2. Most of the land was empty, desolate, and the inhabitants few in number and mostly concentrate in the towns Jerusalem, Acco, Tzfat, Jaffa, Tiberius and Gaza. Most of the inhabitants were Jews and the rest Christians. There were few Muslims, mostly nomad Bedouins. Nablus, known as Shchem, was exceptional, where approximately 120 people, members of the Muslim Natsha family and approximately 70 Shomronites, lived.

In the Galilee capital, Nazareth, lived approximately 700 Christians and in Jerusalem approximately 5000 people, mostly Jews and some Christians.

The interesting part was that Relandi mentioned the Muslims as nomad Bedouins who arrived in the area as construction and agriculture labor reinforcement, seasonal workers.

In Gaza for example, lived approximately 550 people, fifty percent Jews and the rest mostly Christians. The Jews grew and worked in their flourishing vineyards, olive tree orchards and wheat fields (remember Gush Katif?) and the Christians worked in commerce and transportation of produce and goods. Tiberius and Tzfat were mostly Jewish and except of mentioning fishermen fishing in Lake Kinneret — the Lake of Galilee — a traditional Tiberius occupation, there is no mention of their occupations. A town like Um el-Phahem was a village where ten families, approximately fifty people in total, all Christian, lived and there was also a small Maronite church in the village (The Shehadah family).

3. The book totally contradicts any post-modern theory claiming a “Palestinian heritage,” or Palestinian nation. The book strengthens the connection, relevance, pertinence, kinship of the Land of Israel to the Jews and the absolute lack of belonging to the Arabs, who robbed the Latin name Palestina and took it as their own.

In Granada, Spain, for example, one can see Arabic heritage and architecture. In large cities such as Granada and the land of Andalucía, mountains and rivers like Guadalajara, one can see genuine Arabic cultural heritage: literature, monumental creations, engineering, medicine, etc. Seven hundred years of Arabic reign left in Spain an Arabic heritage that one cannot ignore, hide or camouflage. But here, in Israel there is nothing like that! Nada, as the Spanish say! No names of towns, no culture, no art, no history, and no evidence of Arabic rule; only huge robbery, pillaging and looting; stealing the Jews’ holiest place, robbing the Jews of their Promised Land. Lately, under the auspices of all kind of post modern Israelis — also hijacking and robbing us of our Jewish history.
